Our Programs
A place for your child to grow, learn and thrive
PRESCHOOL
We offer a three- to five-day preschool program for children aged three to six. Families are invited to choose consecutive days subject to availability. We recommend children attend at least four days per week to get the most out of the Montessori program, per the AMI standard.
Preschool children attend from 8.30am until 3.30pm.
A Montessori three- to six-year environment is designed to match the developing needs of the children during this rapid period of self-construction, focusing on hands-on learning in both individual and small group lessons.
The Montessori curriculum is designed to support social, creative, language, mathematical and physical development while fostering individual interests through Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Culture.. Every material in a Montessori classroom supports an aspect of child development complementing the child’s innate interests. Children can learn through their own experience and at their own pace.
The Montessori method allows children to work independently and collaboratively. Our mixed three- to six-year age group allows younger students to learn through imitation and gives older students the opportunity to strengthen their learning by helping younger students.
At Lindfield Montessori, we keep student numbers deliberately low. By maximising our staff to student ratio, we can connect meaningfully with each child and celebrate every student as an individual.
KINDERGARTEN
Our Kindergarten program follows the NSW syllabuses for the Australian curriculum and incorporates Montessori teaching methods and materials in all key learning areas. We use Montessori methods to deliver the NESA key learning areas of Mathematics, English, Science and Technology, Creative Arts, HSIE (Geography and History) and PDHPE.
Kindergarten at Lindfield Montessori is a popular option for children who are turning five by the 31st of July of that calendar year and may have outgrown their daycare or preschool environment but who may not yet be ready for primary school. Upon completion of our kindergarten program, our children can go straight into year one at primary school. Lindfield Montessori children have gone on to thrive in public, independent and private schools throughout Sydney.
Our Kindergarten children are proud to be leaders of our school. Their confidence grows and their knowledge and skills are extended. The children model grace and courtesy and peer teach as they gain and consolidate their abilities encourage their independence while supporting them to be ready for their next journey in education beyond Kindergarten.
Children at this age are emerging abstract learners and it is through the support of the hands on, Montessori materials and methods that children are able to grasp more abstract concepts in learning.
Kindergarten children attend five full days per week from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Lindfield Montessori operates for four terms per year, roughly following the NSW school term dates. If your child is turning five prior to 31st July or will turn six at any time in the year, they will be eligible to be a part of our first year of school program (Kindergarten).
OUT OF HOURS SCHOOL CARE
Lindfield Montessori offers a 7:30am - 8:30am morning OOSH service. Our OOSH services provide high-quality care for children enrolled at Lindfield Montessori School.
We do this by offering a relaxed, respectful, child-centred service underpinned by the core values of the Montessori philosophy. Breakfast is provided for children attending OOSH.
Although we do not have vacation care, Lindfield Montessori have a reciprocal agreement with a nearby school for our students to access their vacation care.
