Care of the environment includes activities such as cleaning, sweeping, scrubbing, polishing, beautifying, and maintaining order.
Our Hatchlings Program and our guinea pig friends, Buttercup and Piccolo, help children to know how to care for the environment of pets within the children’s house. Pets need appropriate food and water, housing, mental stimulation and social interaction (for the guinea pigs!). Children learn how the pet’s environment is cleaned and how to behave around them to ensure their welfare. If you have pets at home, children of 3-6 can certainly help to care for their pets needs and environment. Theycan empty and fill water bowls, interact and play with the pet, refill dry and wet food, brush animals where needed and help to bathe them. Walking and exercising animals is also a daily activity for many families and children can absolutely be a part of and benefit from it.
