What a wonderful time we had celebrating book week 2022! The theme was 'Dreaming with Eyes Open' and we certainly have felt like we must be dreaming seeing all of the wonderful Costumes on Friday!
On Thursday, we had our Rainbow Hopping Bug Incursion with Helen and Asiyeh (Author and Illustrator of the book) join us to extend on the Rainbow Hopping bug themes. The children spent time practicing mindfulness and relaxation in a meditation session. Then they twisted and balanced in yoga poses just like Flora, the mina character of the story. After relaxing, the children were so excited to listen to the story again by Helen and then watch while Asiyeh drew an illustration in front of them. It was amazing watching the drawing come to life, with a variation of a bush scene from Rainbow Hopping Bug.
Creativity extended to the outdoors where Aisyeh drew a chalk design on the driveway and all of the children joined in to add colour and their own touch to the picture. The morning culminated in a giant treasure hunt of rainbows hidden around the garden. There was much excitement to think that Rainbow Hopping bug 🌈 may have been in our own backyard!
